In the Bleak Midwinter...

(Evening in the south pasture)

In the bleak midwinter
Frosty wind made moan,
Earth stood hard as iron,
Water like a stone;
Snow had fallen, snow on snow,
Snow on snow,
In the bleak midwinter,
Long ago.

Verse one, written by the English poet Christina Rossetti in 1872.

(Ewes waiting for breakfast)

I love that poem. I love winter days.
Having the time to catch up on some reading,
gazing out the window watching the birds,
feeding my flock of sheep,
watching the ewes as they grow heavy with lambs...

(breakfast is served)

(some of our own hand dyed Lopi yarn!)

Time to do some spinning and knitting,
skirting fleeces, taking photos, editing photos,
working on the website...

(a moorit Icelandic lamb fleece)

Cooking up deliciously hearty dinners
in my new Le Creuset french oven...
(yes, it's worth every penny!)

We missed out on the latest big snow.
Hoping for more soon!
